I have arranged to lease a horse from Melissa Montgomery. I have ridden multi day LD's, and rode my first 50 in March 2024. I am still sorting out my personal horse and do not feel it would allow me the best possible learning experience to bring him on this educational opportunity.
My goals are to see the trails, ride a 100 mile horse, and learn as much as possible about endurance horse care and training, as well as what I need to do for myself in order for both of us to be successful. I am comfortable at any pace. I am a lifelong rider and experienced colt starter.

I’d like to experience the Tevis trail and see how we handle the canyons. Living in Montana, I have access to steep terrain, hills, high elevation, and rugged trails. I don’t have access to hot weather to ride in!

Planning to ride Tevis in 2025. Need to get the lay of the land not only for my horse, but also where I and crew might stay My horse has completed 2 50s and a bunch of LDs. He prefers to travel at 5.5-6 mph at this time. He recently developed a seasonal allergy that has popped up 3 times in the past 4 months.

To get used to riding with larger groups. To see if she has the mental willingness. I don't like to gallop or canter much but love to move out at a trot. Mostly, to see the Tevis trail, have a good time with fellow riders, and to learn about the ride as it's been a goal for a long time, but one I had to put on hold for several years. I've crewed but only once.

I would like to complete the Tevis when my horse is 10 yrs- she just turned 7 yrs.
I have done both endurance and ride and tie and am a veterinarian , if my horse ends up not being up for the rigor of 100 miles it won’t be for lack of training and care!
This will be truly educational for both of us - we want to be riding endurance for the long run .
My horse has done well in Les and one 50 so far.
Have ridden horses for Marcia Smith DVM in parts of this trail to train!

Understand trail and the sections on the ride. I will also be riding last section with Leigh Scribner after the event if I clear the waiting list. I own OWR Astro who completed with Matt Scribner in 2019.
I’m staging to ride Tevis this year if all goes well. Astro is not a fast mustang and his game speed is 9-10 mph. I am the weak link 🙂 so any preparation I can do prior to the ride will position me better for a completion. He was reserve champ high mileage mustang USA last year with me.
