Auburn Overlook (Tevis Finish) to Gold Street Connector Trail

Unfortunately the trail work taking place on the Auburn Overlook (Tevis Finish) to Gold Street Connector Trail is going slower than anticipated—partly because of people ignoring the closure area. They are expecting to be done by June 25th.

The trail is open after 4pm for training purposes daily.

Please, please avoid this trail during work hours for your own safety. The trail crews really don't want to inadvertently drop a rock on you because you were in the wrong place. Thanks.

Auburn State Rec Area unfortunately needs to close a short section of trail. "As part of the continuing fuel reduction on the Auburn Shaded Fuel Break, crews will be working above a segment of the Western States Trail between the Auburn Overlook and the Gold Street Connector Trail. Due to concerns of potential rock/debris fall, the Western States Trail will be closed between 6 a.m. and 4 p.m. until further notice. This work is expected to last for approximately one week. There are alternative routes through the area. Please see the attached posted order here. We thank you for your cooperation in avoiding this area. "

This closure is for your safety - recently a boulder got dislodged while winching vegetation debris off a cleared area in another location.

Map shows the section of trail closed (yellow highlight), as well as possible alternative routes to access the trail. Please proceed carefully on unknown trails.
