Julie Suhr, author of Ten Feet Tall, Still (2002) (available at our Tevis Store), first completed the Tevis Cup Ride in 1965 and logged her 22nd completion in 2000. Along the way she has won the Haggin Cup for best Top Ten Condition three times. Her advice here is directed toward riders' attitudes about themselves, their horses and, well, just plain Luck.

Jeff Herten is a dermatologist and dermatopathologist practicing in San Luis Obispo. His background is in ultrarunning, with two silver buckles awarded for completing the Western States Endurance Run. He says he learned to ride in order to compete in Ride & Tie and got hooked on riding. Herten has won five Tevis buckles in seven starts with three finishes on RD Famus. He is married to veteran endurance rider Debby Lyon.
Erin Klentos won the 1991 and 1996 Tevis and Haggin Cups and is a WSTF BOG member.
